Start at Ogwen Cottage Ranger Base: Begin your adventure at Ogwen Cottage, which serves as the trailhead for the Cwm Idwal Circular Route. You can conveniently park your vehicle here. See parking options below.
Grab Your Gear: Before setting off, ensure you have all the necessary gear. This includes comfortable walking boots, waterproof clothing, a backpack with essentials like water, snacks, and a map.
Head Towards Llyn Ogwen: From Ogwen Cottage, follow the path leading towards Llyn Ogwen, a stunning glacial lake. This initial stretch offers scenic views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
Cross the Footbridge: After a short walk, you'll reach a footbridge. Cross it to continue on the trail.
Ascend to Llyn Idwal: The path gradually ascends, leading you into the Cwm Idwal valley. You'll soon come across Llyn Idwal, the beautiful glacial lake at the heart of the valley. Take your time to soak in the serene ambiance and admire the towering cliffs surrounding the lake.

Explore the Devil's Kitchen: As you progress, you'll reach a distinctive feature known as the Devil's Kitchen. This is a dramatic, rocky cleft in the cliffs, and it's well worth a closer look. However, exercise caution around this area, as the terrain can be challenging.
Complete the Loop: Continue along the circular route, enjoying the diverse landscapes that unfold before you. The path will lead you back to Llyn Ogwen.
Return to Ogwen Cottage: Finally, follow the path back to Ogwen Cottage, where you began your journey.

During peak times, the available parking spaces tend to fill up rapidly. However, there are a couple of eco-friendly alternatives to consider. You can opt for a park-and-ride service located in nearby Bethesda. Additionally, there are frequent T10 bus routes connecting Bangor and Corwen, as well as the Bws Ogwen, a local electric shuttle bus that operates regularly between Bethesda and Capel Curig.
