Erddig Walks
Exploring the Great Outdoors
Erddig Parklands is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a myriad of captivating walking trails that cater to all abilities.
Here are three walks that allow you to immerse yourself in the splendor of this picturesque landscape:
Erddig Big Wood Trail
The Erddig Big Wood Trail is managed by the National Trust. This circular trail offers a delightful woodland experience with beautiful scenery. The trail covers a distance of approximately 2.5 miles (4 kilometers). It starts at the Erddig car park and takes about 1.5 hours to complete at a leisurely pace. The trail is well-maintained and offers opportunities to spot wildlife and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the woodlands. Visitors can expect to see a variety of trees, plants, and bird species along the way.
Erddig Riverside Walk
The Erddig Riverside Walk is another picturesque trail situated in Erddig, Wales. Also managed by the National Trust, this linear walk follows the banks of the River Clywedog. It provides stunning views of the river and the surrounding countryside. The walk is approximately 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) long and takes around 1 hour to complete. It starts and finishes at the Erddig car park. Along the route, walkers can enjoy the peaceful riverside atmosphere and may even spot some wildlife. The walk is suitable for all ages and is relatively easy, with mostly flat terrain.
Erddig Circular Walk
The Erddig Circular Walk is a longer trail that offers a comprehensive exploration of the beautiful Erddig Park and its surroundings. This circular route covers a distance of approximately 5 miles (8 kilometers). It starts and finishes at the Erddig Car Park (or you can start at Erddig Park Car Park like we did). The walk takes around 2.5 to 3 hours to complete, depending on the pace and stops along the way. The trail showcases the diverse landscapes of Erddig, including woodlands, meadows, and parkland. It also passes by several notable features, such as the stunning Erddig Hall and the charming walled garden. The walk offers an excellent opportunity to appreciate nature, history, and architecture in one outing.
I recently completed the Erddig Circular Walk with Jonny and Lily! We had a great morning exploring the countryside in the sunshine!
