Our Honeymoon in St Lucia

As soon as Jonny popped the question, we knew exactly where we wanted to go on our honeymoon.

St. Lucia is an incredible Caribbean island with a lot to offer honeymooners. With its stunning beaches, lush rainforests, and magnificent mountains, it's easy to see why it's a popular destination for adventure lovers like us!

Jonny and I LOVED our honeymoon in St. Lucia, and it was an experience we'll never forget.

Thinking of honeymooning on this gorgeous island? Here’s are a few of our highlights …

Our Favourite Things to do in St. Lucia

Climbing Gros Piton

One of the highlights of our trip was climbing Gros Piton, one of the island's iconic landmarks.

This towering mountain stands at over 2,600 feet and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

The hike is challenging, but well worth the effort. It took us about 2 hours to climb to the summit, with our amazing guide Katia.

After a sweaty climb, we enjoyed a refreshing Piton beer at the top! The view from the summit is absolutely stunning, and it's definitely worth the climb.

The Mud Baths, Soufriere

Another highlight of our trip was going to the mud baths in Soufriere.

The mud is rich in minerals and is believed to have therapeutic properties.

We smeared the mud all over ourselves and let it dry in the sun before washing it off in the hot springs - our skin felt amazing afterwards.

Dinner at Hotel Chocolat

One evening we went for dinner at the iconic Hotel Chocolat, a boutique hotel located on a cocoa plantation.

The food was delicious and the setting was absolutely gorgeous. We enjoyed views of the Pitons whilst sipping on our cocoa infused Aperol Spritz!

We also got to sample some of the hotel's delicious chocolate, which was made from cocoa grown on the plantation.

The Toraille Waterfall

Next up is the Toraille Waterfall. This natural wonder is a must-see, with a 50-foot cascade that drops into a refreshing pool below. It's the perfect spot to cool off after a long day of exploring.

The waterfall is a bit of a tourist hot spot - so try and visit during the quieter periods, such as first thing in the morning.

Lunch at Sugar Beach

We also enjoyed a delicious lunch at Sugar Beach, a luxury resort located in the shadow of the Pitons.

The white sandy beach is stunning and the water is crystal clear.

We spent the afternoon lounging on the sand, sipping champagne (we were on our honeymoon after all!), and taking in the beautiful scenery.

To be honest, we got pretty drunk and my memory is a little hazy! But I do remember it was a brilliant afternoon.

The Botanical Gardens

Next up is the Botanical Gardens. This tranquil oasis is home to a vast array of exotic plants, flowers, and trees, making it a paradise for nature lovers.

You'll find everything from towering bamboo to vibrant hibiscus, and the garden is also home to a small bird sanctuary and the beautiful Diamond Waterfalls.

Exploring Pigeon Island

If you're feeling adventurous, take a walk around Pigeon Island.

This historic site offers stunning views of the ocean and the island, and you can explore the ruins of old military buildings and forts.

Plus, there's a small museum that provides insight into the island's history.

Pigeon Island can be found on the northern tip of St Lucia.

Snorkelling at Anse Cochon

And last - but definitely not least is the incredible snorkelling experience at Anse Cochon.

This secluded cove offers crystal-clear waters teeming with colourful fish and coral, making it the perfect spot for snorkelling and scuba diving.

Luckily, our second hotel had direct access to this picture-perfect inlet, meaning we could enjoy a morning snorkel before the boat trips arrived.

We also took kayaks out and enjoyed the crystal clear waters of Anse Cochon, whilst soaking up the St Lucian sunshine. Dreamy!

Sunset Dolphin Cruise

On our last evening we took a sunset cruise around the Pitons. It was the perfect way to end a once in a lifetime adventure.

Whilst sipping cocktails and enjoying some tasty tapas, we were lucky enough to spot a couple of dolphins in the distance.

Before we knew it, we were surrounded by a pod of around fifty dolphins! They were playfully jumping in and out of the ocean as the sun set over the majestic piton mountains. Perfection.

Honeymoon Hotels in St. Lucia - Where We Stayed

During our honeymoon in St. Lucia, we stayed at a few different hotels, each with its own unique charm.

Each hotel got better and better, ending at the impressive Ladera Resort - probably the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

Windjammer Landing

Our first stop was at Windjammer Landing, a sprawling resort located on the northern coast of the island.

The hotel has a variety of room types, from studios to villas, and there are plenty of activities to keep you entertained.

We enjoyed taking a catamaran tour, trying out some of the water sports, and relaxing on the beach.

A great start to our honeymoon in St Lucia!

Ti Kaye Resort

Our next stop was at Ti Kaye, a beautiful five-star boutique resort located on the west coast of the island.

The hotel is perched on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea, and the views are simply breathtaking. We stayed in a private cottage with its own plunge pool, which was a lovely touch.

The staff at Ti Kaye were incredibly friendly, and the food at the hotel's restaurant was absolutely delicious.

We also enjoyed a morning at the hotel spa, which was such a treat! I’d go back to this hotel in a heartbeat.

The Ladera

Our final stop was at The Ladera, a five-star, eco-friendly resort located in the hills above Soufriere.

The hotel's open-air design means that every room has a breathtaking view of the Pitons.

The private infinity pool was an amazing feature, and we spent hours sunbathing, swimming and taking in the scenery. We even had hummingbirds join us on the deck every morning!

We spent our evenings sat underneath the stars at the hotel’s famous restaurant, with views of the mighty pitons. The staff at The Ladera were incredibly friendly and helpful, and they went out of their way to make our stay extra special.

If you’re looking for an extra special hotel in St Lucia, this is the one for you!
