Pram Friendly Walks in Cheshire
As a new mum, I understand the importance of finding a good pram-friendly walk to enjoy with your little one.
Luckily, Cheshire has plenty of beautiful routes to choose from.
Whether you're looking for a short and easy stroll or a more challenging adventure, you're sure to find the idea walk for you and your family in this gorgeous part of the UK. From the rolling hills of Alderley Edge to the serene paths of Marbury Country Park, Cheshire's landscapes invite you to embark on a memorable journey.
Here are some of my favorite pram-friendly walks in Cheshire…
Tatton Park, Knutsford
Route Details: Tatton Park Pram Friendly Routes
Parking: Parking available at Tatton Park (£6.50 Mon-Fri, £8.00 Sat & Sun)

Tatton Park is a stunning National Trust property with over 1,000 acres of parkland to explore.
With its well-maintained paths and scenic vistas, Tatton offers a variety of pram-friendly walks suitable for all ages. The park has several pram-friendly walking routes ranging from 1 to 3 miles in length.
Meander through the lush gardens, where vibrant blooms and fragrant blossoms create a sensory delight, or stroll along the tranquil lakeside, where you may spot ducks and geese paddling in the water.
There are plenty of benches along the way to stop and take in the scenery, and several cafes where you can grab a coffee or a bite to eat.
Tatton Park is also home to a children's farm, a playground, and a maze, making it the perfect spot for a family day out in Cheshire.
2. Delamere Forest

Parking: Main Visitor Centre Car Park (£6 for 2 hours, £10 all day)

Delamere Forest is a firm favourite of mine and a popular spot for families looking for a dose of fresh air.
The forest has several pram-friendly walking routes, including the easy 1.7-mile Blakemere Trail and the slightly more challenging 2.5-mile Old Pale Trail.
The forest is home to an abundance of wildlife, including red deer, and there are several picnic areas along the way where you can stop for a bite to eat.
There's also a cafe and a visitor center where you can learn more about the history and ecology of the forest.
3. The Middlewood Way

Parking: Bollington Car Park (£6 for 2 hours, £10 all day)

The Middlewood Way is a disused railway line that has been converted into a 10-mile walking and cycling trail.
The trail runs from Macclesfield to Marple and passes through beautiful countryside and woodland areas. I’d recommend the route from Jackson’s Brickworks to Nelson Pit and back. This is a 4km walk, taking approximately 1-2 hours.
The trail is flat and well-maintained, making it ideal for prams and pushchairs.
There are several cafes and pubs along the way where you can stop for refreshments, and the trail is also dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry friend along for the walk.
4. Marbury Country Park

Parking: Marbury Country Park Car Park (£1.50 for 3 hours, £2.50 for 8 hours)

Located near Northwich, Marbury Country Park is a beautiful park with several pram-friendly walking routes.
The park has a lake, a canal, and several woodland areas to explore.
The walks range from 1 to 3 miles in length and are well-signposted, so you won't get lost. Take a leisurely stroll around the mere, pausing to admire the swans gliding gracefully across the water, or venture into the ancient woodlands, where dappled sunlight filters through the canopy above.
There are several picnic areas and benches along the way, as well as a pop up cafe where you can grab a snack.
The park is also home to a children's play area and a bird hide, where you can spot a variety of bird species.
6. Alderley Edge

Nestled in the heart of Cheshire, Alderley Edge is renowned for its stunning views and enchanting woodlands.
While the rugged terrain may seem daunting for pram walks, fear not, as there are accessible paths catering to families with young children.
The Edge boasts an array of walking trails, including the picturesque Wizard Walk, where you can immerse yourself in myth and legend while enjoying the breathtaking scenery. With its tranquil atmosphere and fresh air, Alderley Edge provides the perfect backdrop for a leisurely stroll with your little one.
7. Dunham Massey

Parking: National Trust Car Park (Included within ticket price - £21.25 for a family pass)

Step back in time and explore the historic grounds of Dunham Massey, where manicured lawns and stately avenues await.
While the formal gardens may be off-limits to prams, there are plenty of accessible paths to explore, including the scenic deer park, home to a resident herd of fallow deer.
Follow the winding trails through ancient woodlands, where sunlight filters through the canopy, casting dappled shadows on the forest floor. With its rich history and natural beauty, Dunham Massey offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life.
8. Lyme Park

Address: Disley, Stockport, Cheshire, SK12 2NR
One of my favourite places to visit in the Peak District, Lyme Park is a sprawling estate encompassing rugged moorland, tranquil lakes, and ancient woodlands.
While some of the more remote areas may be challenging for pram walks, there are plenty of accessible paths to explore, including the scenic route around the ornamental lake.
Keep an eye out for red deer roaming freely across the parkland, or venture into the towering woodlands, where hidden trails lead to secluded glens and secret waterfalls. With its untamed beauty and sense of wilderness, Lyme Park offers a truly immersive outdoor experience for adventurous families.
9. Grosvenor Park, Chester

Located in the heart of Chester, Grovenor Park offers a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of city life.
With its manicured lawns, vibrant flower beds, and tranquil pathways, the park provides an ideal setting for pram walks with your little one.
Take a leisurely stroll around the ornamental gardens, where colorful blooms perfume the air, or explore the wooded glades, where squirrels frolic among the trees. With its convenient location and peaceful ambiance, Grovenor Park is the perfect spot for a relaxing day out with the family.
There's plenty of space to let off steam and children will love the Miniature railway and Activity Zone. Refreshments are available from the onsite Lodge Cafe.
Cheshire has plenty of pram-friendly walks to choose from. With beautiful scenery, plenty of facilities, and opportunities for family fun, these walks are the perfect way to enjoy the great outdoors with your little one.
